Day Seven: Durango, Colorado

Today we went to one of the coolest National Parks on the trip.  We loaded the bus at 8:30 and headed to Mesa Verde.  Once we were in Mesa we stopped at the visitors center and then hiked down to see the Spruce Tree house.  There, carved into the side of a mountain, was a large Native American home.  The ruins that we saw are 95% original.  It is so amazing to think that something that was was carved into a mountain so many years ago is still intact.  Everyone had the opportunity to go down into one of the pits and check it out.

After a picnic lunch at Mesa, we headed back to the town of Durango where we had plenty of time to check out the town.  Some even decided to try out the laundry mat.

For dinner, we all headed to the Bar D Ranch for a an awesome Chuck Wagon Dinner.  We dined on chicken, beans, corn, applesauce, spice cake, and biscuits.  Then we enjoyed a live show by the Bar D Wranglers who have awards for their flat picking and musical ability.
